What started as a cute idea for a baby shower favour in 2014 has turned into an amazing small business success story for Abby Walsh of Stomping Elephants. The unofficial ‘$5 Earring Queen’, Abby has taken her hypoallergenic jewellery business from strength to strength while keeping its handmade integrity. That takes an extraordinary amount of work, not just for her, but also her extremely supportive family and a small team of dedicated staff.
Rowena has not followed a typical or obvious path to the work she now does with Minds Aligned, with many false starts and random job choices along the way. Choosing not to go on to university or further education from high school, it has been a combination of her personal and professional roles, the challenges she has faced and specific studies along the way that have influenced who Ro is, what she brings to each interaction and how she communicates.
A Mackay local, Victoria is the Regional Director of Opteon – a property valuation firm operating from Bowen to Gympie. Since entering Mackay’s property industry in 2009, Vic has won multiple leadership awards and been involved with numerous property and business committees – such as her appointment to Chamber in 2015. With a strong commitment to the region and its’ future, Victoria believes it’s a great time to be doing business in Mackay and looks forward to helping our business community succeed.
She’s survived 15 years in business, travelled the world doing the profession that she loved, won Best in Business and worked with some of the leading industry professionals in her field – Amanda has had quite a career! Owner of J&R Hair Designers, Amanda has been through the struggles we all go through – achieving the ideal work/life balance, juggling different personalities and learning ways of different staff – and is keen to share her insights with us.
