Guest speaker: Johanna Wood,
Team Leader at helloworld Mackay
After starting her career in the travel industry in the Whitsundays, now ten years later Johanna is loving every second of her job. An avid traveler, Johanna has visited all seven continents. A few of her favourite destinations include Africa, USA and Europe. Johanna’s favourite travel experience is Antarctica, where she climbed the mountain to overlook the pristine Paradise Bay, as well as got up close and personal with penguins, leopard seals and whales. Travel is Johanna’s passion and her favourite part is sharing her experience with her clients to ensure they have even better memories of their travel experiences.
Johanna will be presenting a practical look at making work fun – focusing on team building and incentives. “Company culture” is a common buzzword in business at the moment, but how do you achieve the type of culture you want in a team? And more so, once you’ve achieved it, how do you maintain it? At first glance, a travel agency may seem like the Disneyland of workplace environments. But like any industry, there are real challenges around maintaining a focused and driven team, while ensuring a great work/life balance. Johanna is going to share the tips and tricks that helloworld Mackay & Mt Pleasant use to keep their team connected and moving forward. Just because your industry isn’t retail sales, doesn’t mean you can’t use initiatives like team and individual incentives, social functions and regular meetings to keep your team engaged and focused!
Rocket’s Great Give
Ladies – don’t hold on to your knickers!
The donation theme for our May event is undies – women’s and children’s – to go to the Mackay Women’s Centre. This is not, we repeat not time to clean out your underwear drawer. If you’d like to donate, then next time you head into Big W or the like – add a pack of boy’s, girl’s or women’s underwear to your basket. These kinds of items are often overlooked in donations because they have to be new, but they are desperately in need – so bring on the undies!
